Adele Binelli is currently producing and directing her first screenplay. After a thriving career as a choreographer on Broadway as well as on commercial venues, Adele is now a successful film maker who recently attended NYFA in Los Angeles to polish her movie directing skills.
Here is the story of her humble beginnings:
Adele Binelli started choreographing on the tile floor of her living room in Italy.
She was intrigued by the dances in such iconic movies as “West Side Story”, “All That Jazz”, “Hair” and “A Chorus Line” - movies which later, among others, became subject of her Master Degree dissertation: “Dance in the American Movie Musical”.
After a solid ballet and jazz foundation
(Matt Mattox was her very first jazz teacher) and training in acting, singing, and dancing with the best educators in the heart of New York City, Adele went on to work with two of the people she so admired: Gwen Verdon and Ann Reinking,
perfecting the Bob Fosse style and completely diving into the artistry of the late choreographer.
Being the apprentice for Ann Reinking more than once in “The Broadway Theatre Project”, Adele caught the eye of the latter when choreographing her first piece, “Everything Said” and there followed her first professional choreography/staging commission, a regional production of “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum”.
At the same time, Adele was participating in multiple musical theatre workshops immersing herself completely in lectures led by Stanley Donnen, Julian Stein, Jeff Calhoun, Pat Birch, Gregory Hines, Roy Sheider, to mention a few.
Adele studied as many dance vocabularies and styles as possible (and relentlessly does).
Her first commercial break happened with the Pepsi Cola Company as she choreographed the National Industrial for the lunching of
“Pepsi Twist”.
Adele went on being
the associate
choreographer/director
on Broadway f
or projects such as the
run of the British show “Cafe a GoGo”,
(the London West End original title is “A Slice of Saturday Night”) by the Heather Brothers as well as working in the same capacity for many MTV Europe Award Winning music videos,
including
Buoni o Cattivi, Vasco Rossi,
as assistanto to choreographer
Franco Miseria).
Adele also continued her acting studies deepening her knowledge of classic and contemporary theater, before branching out in movie and tv studies.
Her singing classes covering the masterpieces of the Musical Theater form through its history, were numerous and varied.
As an actress, Adele appeared on the ABC "General Hospital" and was on "One Life To Live" as “Connie“. She also performed in various regional theater productions in New York.
Choreography was naturally leading into directing, which is what Adele is pursuing now.
Directing movies is what she strives for and directing and choreographing dance movies is the ultimate goal for Adele.
Adele has been teaching acting, singing and dancing
for 30 years,
all throughout her professional career, bringing her passion and experience to as many artists as possible, mentoring, coaching and helping young professionals shine through their uniqueness.
In 2015 Adele founded a small boutique school called Triple Threat Conservatory, with in person as well as virtual classes for those who want to explore the magical world of the Performing Arts.
Adele firmly believes that one has to be a working professional in order to be the best educator one can be.
Adele Binelli is proud of having acquired her US citizenship as a self petitioner choreographer-director.
